Practical Therapy for Men and Couples
I am a male psychologist, license PSY21799, with a private psychotherapy practice in the Rockridge area of Oakland, near Berkeley. I work with individual adults and couples. In therapy, I help people with issues such as relationship conflict, depression, anxiety, anger management, addiction, adjustment to new parenthood, grief, and loss.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, my Masters of Science in the Management of Technology (M.B.A.) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and my Doctorate in Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. My doctoral sub-specialty was helping couples with the transition to parenthood. I have facilitated a number of new parents’ couples counseling groups, and I have been a regular guest speaker at various new mothers’ groups.
With couples, I practice Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). I help couples understand each other, how their conflict cycle is rooted in their desire for connection, and how they can step out of that cycle to get the understanding, love, and support they want.
EFT is described more fully here. http://www.iceeft.com/index.php/about-us/what-is-eft
